Sanctuary exists in perpetual tension between its creators' natures. Inarius contributed idealistic vision of coexistence; Lilith contributed demonic cunning and corruption. The resulting realm reflects both impulses—capable of great beauty and terrible darkness.
The Worldstone Theft
Inarius and Lilith orchestrated cosmic theft of the Worldstone from Heaven's Crystal Arch. This act of defiance shocked creation and fundamentally altered the balance of power between Heaven, Hell, and the mortal realm.
Realm Creation
With the Worldstone as anchor, Inarius and Lilith created Sanctuary as a distinct dimension. Using divine power, they shaped geography, established laws of nature, and prepared the realm for habitation.
Sanctuary's Hidden Status
The Worldstone grants Sanctuary protection from detection by both Heaven and Hell. This cloaking allows mortals to exist unmolested, though not completely protected from incursion. The hidden status remains central to Sanctuary's survival.
Discovery by Heaven
Eventually Heaven discovered Sanctuary's existence. Upon learning of mortal existence, the Angiris Council debated proper response. This discovery led to complex celestial involvement in mortal affairs.
